Key Responsibilities:

• Assess patient mental health and prescribe evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
• Administer psychiatric medications and evaluate patient response to treatment.
• Evaluate patients for forensic concerns, including civil commitment, decisional capacity, and court-mandated treatment.
• Participate in legal processes related to psychiatric evaluations and treatment.
• Take part in regional call rotations to support 24/7 psychiatric coverage across TTUHSC regions.
• Refer patients to medical specialists for further evaluation and treatment as needed.
• Review and document patient records thoroughly—including admission, progress, and discharge notes.
• Provide clinical oversight and consultation in line with the unit’s psychiatric treatment program.
• Participate in Treatment Team meetings and other clinical or administrative committees.
• Uphold professional standards in all interactions—arrive on time, maintain confidentiality, and foster respectful communication.
• Follow institutional policies, including dress code and timely submission of leave reports.
