Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor Supervisor to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in addiction counseling and be committed to helping individuals overcome substance use disorders. This role requires a deep understanding of patient care, diagnostic evaluation, and the ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare setting. The Substance Abuse Counselor Supervisor will provide support, guidance, and treatment planning for staff while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to determine the extent of substance use and its impact on the individual’s life.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on diagnostic evaluations and patient needs.
- Provide addiction counseling to clients, utilizing evidence-based practices and therapeutic techniques.
- Facilitate group therapy sessions focused on recovery strategies, coping mechanisms, and life skills.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress and treatment outcomes in accordance with ICD-9 coding standards.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including social workers and medical staff, to ensure holistic patient care.
- Engage with families through child family counseling sessions to support the recovery process.
- Stay informed about current research and best practices in substance abuse treatment.
Experience
- Proven experience in addiction counseling or a related field is essential.
- Familiarity with home community care practices is preferred.
- Strong understanding of patient assessment techniques and diagnostic evaluation processes.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and ethical standards are maintained.
- Experience working in a hospital or clinical setting is advantageous.
- Ability to conduct research related to substance abuse trends and treatment efficacy.
