About Crisis Support Services
Crisis Support Services is a mobile crisis team dedicated to providing prevention and intervention counseling for individuals with developmental disabilities. Our counselors respond to crisis calls, provide on-site support, and collaborate with families, providers, and Regional Center Service Coordinators. Safety, stability, and person-centered care are at the heart of everything we do.

The Opportunity
We are seeking a full-time Counselor to join our Crisis Prevention Team. This role is field-based and requires strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and a commitment to supporting individuals in high-stress situations. Training is provided, and candidates will gain valuable experience in crisis intervention, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and direct client support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide crisis prevention and intervention services using non-aversive, non-confrontational approaches
  • Assess for crisis potential and prioritize based on severity and available resources
  • De-escalate crises and support stabilization to avoid unnecessary hospitalization or police involvement
  • Partner with families, providers, and service coordinators to support placement stability and transitions
  • Complete timely and accurate documentation and reports
  • Participate in weekly on-call rotation and respond as part of a rapid response team

Target Population
We support individuals with developmental disabilities referred by the Regional Center who may be experiencing crises such as self-harm, harm to others, elopement, property damage, or uncontrollable behaviors that could place services or housing at risk.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite; bilingual Spanish a plus
  • Driving Requirements:
  • Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle in good working condition
  • Proof of insurance
