Montefiore Medical Center is proud to announce the upcoming launch of a new acute inpatient psychiatric facility dedicated to providing high-quality, short-term psychiatric care for children and adolescents. This specialized unit will enhance access to timely, developmentally appropriate mental health services, offering a safe, structured, and compassionate environment to support patients in crisis and help stabilize their condition.

Responsibilities

  • As part of our efforts to build a strong, multidisciplinary team, we are currently seeking a Psychiatry Technician.
  • The Psychiatry Technician plays a vital role in the Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Unit, delivering direct patient care and clinical support under the guidance of registered nurses.
  • This position is responsible for maintaining a safe and structured environment, engaging patients in therapeutic activities, and assisting children and adolescents with their daily needs throughout hospitalization.
  • Additionally, the Psychiatric Technician performs essential clinical tasks, including phlebotomy, EKGs, and point-of-care testing, in alignment with a trauma-informed and developmentally sensitive model of care.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or G.E.D. is required, along with two years of full-time experience in nursing or psychiatric/behavioral health care within a high-volume, intensive care setting. Alternatively, a satisfactory combination of education, training, and experience may be considered. However, all candidates must possess a minimum of a high school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Graduate of a State Certified PCT/PCA program.
  • Completion of and certified to perform vital signs, phlebotomy, EKGs and blood glucose monitoring.
  • Successful completion of an appropriate training program in the application and use of restraints and seclusion must be completed.
  • Basic Life Support.
