Summary
Performs responsible professional work in the evaluation, planning and implementation of Therapeutic Recreation programs to increase, maintain or restore functions, maximize or prevent disability and assist patients in reaching their maximum performance levels in the areas of leisure education, adaptive recreation, and recreational activities.
Initiates assessment and develops goal-oriented treatment plan based on patient's individual needs and abilities. Works within an interdisciplinary team in the completion of the recreational therapy plan of care, with evaluation of a patient’s pre-morbid leisure lifestyle and provides goals and objectives directed at a therapeutically designed recreation/leisure-oriented treatment which assists patients in attaining optimum level of functioning. As needed, develops, and implements diversionary activity program. Supports efforts for patient's social integration during rehabilitation stay.
Education:
Required: Bachelor's degree in recreation therapy, therapeutic recreation, recreation administration or an equivalent program.

Certifications:
Required: Certified by the Consortium for Therapeutic Recreation/Activity Certification (CTRS) or National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC). AHA BLS.
