Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) – Job DescriptionQualification Requirements
- Minimum of twelve (12) continuous months of experience within the last three (3) years performing services similar in scope in a public or private institution. Internship does not count toward the required experience.
- Must have the required licenses, permits, registrations, and/or certifications.
- Education: Completion of a master’s degree program from an accredited school for Marriage and Family Therapy that meets the requirements stipulated in Business and Professional Code 4980.36.
Service Delivery Requirements
The temporary/relief LMFT shall provide services as permitted within the scope of practice for an LMFT in accordance with institution/facility policies and procedures. Under the direction/supervision of the Supervising Psychiatric Social Worker or designee, the LMFT’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
a. Conduct assessments and provide clinical treatment interventions such as brief counseling, group therapy, and individual counseling.
b. Consult and collaborate with other disciplines for patient care and treatment; participate in interdisciplinary care planning and coordination.
c. Perform assessments that assist with transitional care planning and coordination, linking patients with community resources and services upon release.
d. Conduct assessments to determine appropriate levels of intervention, education, and counseling services within the context of marriage, couples, and family systems, as well as individual biopsychosocial needs, with specific solution-focused, attainable therapeutic goals.
e. Conduct Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for individuals with Substance Use Disorders (SUD) in 1:1 and/or group settings to modify intrapersonal and interpersonal behaviors.
f. Conduct assessments for patients preparing for release.
g. Provide education and counseling services to encourage life skills development and strategies for coping with issues related to SUD.
h. Develop and/or contribute to treatment and care plans.
i. Review patient files, gather data, and complete reports and other required documentation.
j. Make recommendations to care teams, communicate effectively, and collaborate with patients and all disciplines involved in care.
k. Document and evaluate patient progress, facilitate discharges and transfers in coordination with treatment and rehabilitative programs.
l. Work with rehabilitative partners and custody staff to assess patient participation and progress.
m. Attend case conferences, trainings, meetings, and committees as directed; perform other duties as required.

Pay: $60.00 - $63.00 per hour
