Job Overview:
The Student Interventionist/Counselor will support youth, throughout the year, providing each with a minimum of 45 hours of in-school and out-of-school services, as well as supplemental services. The Student Interventionist/Counselor will create an environment that enhances academic, personal, social and career development. The Student Interventionist/Counselor provides individual counseling and crisis intervention to youth as needed. He/She provides a host of support services to students through collaboration with teachers, administrators and community and professional organizations.
Role:
· Empower youth to resolve current issues and to develop coping strategies for the future.
· Provide a model for a healthy, trusting relationship through clear communication and setting appropriate boundaries.
· Acknowledge the strengths, talents and gifts of each youth and encourage them to find ways to use those assets.
· Be an active listener and offer support and encouragement when appropriate.
· Engage in activities outside of the home to help expose youth to new opportunities and experiences, including field trips and peace circles.
Responsibilities:
· Complete application process, consisting of written application, references, interview, background checks and volunteer training.
· Maintain confidentiality of participants.
· Clear communication with the school administration.
Qualifications:
· Willingness to provide emotional, social, and practical support within limits.
· Knowledge of one’s boundaries and ability to set limits with others.
· Recognition that all people have strengths and they need to discover and use them.
· Completed background check and training.
· 3-5 year experience working with high school students
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.60 - $27.22 per hour
