Seeking: Licensed/Certified Substance Abuse Counselor: SAC-IT, SAC, CSAC, LPC-IT, LPC, LCSW!

The Substance Abuse Counselor is a professional who provides direct care to patients by providing evidence-based counseling to individuals with substance use disorders. Substance abuse counselors will also be required to provide case management to ensure that patients are receiving care for identified issues that are not able to be addressed under the scope of practice of the substance abuse counselor.

Job Functions:

  • Facilitate individual counseling sessions as clinically indicated and in accordance with Federal, State, ASAP, and CARF requirements under clinical supervision.
  • Is responsible to produce and maintain accurate and thorough treatment records in accordance with Federal, State and CARF guidelines.
  • Work with an interdisciplinary team both within ASAP and with outside agencies to ensure a holistic approach to patient care.
  • Work with outside agencies to coordinate patient care to both patients being admitted to the program and patients leaving the program.
  • Continually evaluate patient needs and work as a case manager to ensure that patients receive continuity of care for all identified treatment needs by coordinating mental health referrals in assessing the immediacy of patient needs, level of service required and appropriateness of service.
  • Is responsible for the protection of the rights and confidentiality of all patients that are served. Will ensure that all patients are treated with respect, dignity and free from any discrimination.
  • Provides an additional level of crisis intervention and de-escalation with dual diagnosed patients as needed.

Education/ Licensure/ Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Associates degree or higher in a human services field from an accredited college or university (preferred)
  • Completed Pre-Credential 100 hours of specialized education through an approved education program and are eligible to apply for a SAC-IT licensure
  • Holds a current Substance Abuse Counselor In-Training, Substance Abuse Counselor, Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor-In Training, Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker credential in the State of Wisconsin
  • Addiction Counseling - 1 year (Preferred)

Job Requirements

  • Working knowledge or willingness to learn and understanding of addiction treatment
  • The ability to effectively communicate with a variety of groups of people with respect and courtesy
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office based programs
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25lbs. and an ability to move throughout the clinic premises
  • Ability to change positions from sitting to standing multiple times throughout the day without pain or difficulty.

Work Hours

  • Full-Time, Non-Exempt (Hourly)
  • Monday-Friday 5:00am to 1:30pm
  • Occasional Saturdays and Sundays 5:45am-9:15am on a rotating basis

  • One location, private personal office, large break room with kitchen
