We’re looking for a dedicated and inspiring Peer Support Specialist to join our dynamic Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) team. This is an opportunity to help individuals move towards their life worth living by learning and practicing proven skills. You will be a part of a dedicated team that works together to provide comprehensive DBT.What You Will Be DoingAs a Peer Support Specialist on the DBT team, you are a member of a multidisciplinary team that works with youth and adults who experience difficulties managing emotions, and often thoughts of suicide. As a Peer Support Specialist, you would provide hope, mentorship, and practical support to individuals as they learn skills and move through the proven DBT curriculum. You would be doing things such as providing peer-to-peer support through individual meetings, group facilitation, and outreach activities; co-leading DBT skills groups with an experienced clinician; sharing personal experiences of recovery to model hope and resilience.; assisting participants with navigating mental health services, transportation, housing, employment, and other life domains. You will also meet with you one-on-one to practice skills; participate in DBT consultation meetings to support the team, and to gain the support of the team; and maintain documentation while adhering to confidentiality, ethics, and professional boundaries.What We Require
You will have a High School diploma or GED and completion of (or willingness to complete) a recognized Peer Specialist certification program. You will have lived experiences with a mental health condition that involves difficulties with emotions. You will have a valid Michigan driver’s license with reliable transportation and a willingness to travel locally and meet clients in their homes, the community, and office setting, as well as transport clients, as needed. Candidates with the ability to engage compassionately & respectfully with diverse youths & adults and possess strong communication, boundary-setting, and teamwork skills are desired. You’ll have basic computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, database management and e-mail along with basic knowledge in the use of electronic office equipment, including copy and fax machines.Why Work For ISK

May occasionally require light lifting up to 25 pounds, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or bending as appropriate. Requires coordination of hands and/or eye/hand/foot.Working Conditions – Office environment with noise from computers, copy machine, and telephones. Use of computer screen for periods in excess of 30 minutes at a time. Possible eyestrain from extended periods of viewing computer screen. May be exposed to bloodborne pathogens, infectious diseases, and parasites. Travel throughout the Kalamazoo area is required.
