BILINGUAL OUTREACH and ENGAGEMENT SPECIALIST

Reports to Director of Programs

· Will outreach to the underserved Spanish speaking and Migrant community in Wilson County to ensure that victims and service providers understand the multitude of services that Wesley Shelter can provide. Will facilitate service delivery to domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking victims.

· Will visit rural areas of the county, including Migrant Labor Camps to educate about domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking and offer the services of Wesley Shelter. Will distribute printed literature.

  • Will provide cultural information to local service providers who work with the Spanish speaking community. Will network as a representative of Wesley Shelter with area service providers to insure that they understand the needs of victims.
  • Establish sustainable relationships between the Hispanic/Latino community, the Migrant Seasonal Farm Worker community, and service providers in Wilson County. Create a network of service providers so that service delivery is coordinated and easily accessible.
  • Work closely with Hispanic Outreach/Victim Advocate to insure that underserved Spanish speaking domestic violence, sexual assault or human trafficking victims are able to access the services of Wesley Shelter and other appropriate community resources. Will act as back up Advocate for 50 B-C orders when Hispanic Outreach Advocate is not available.
  • Will participate in trainings and educational opportunities relative to domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, or immigrant issues.
  • Assess client need for various services. (Legal, mental health, housing, social, medical, financial, crisis intervention, etc…) and refer to appropriate resource. Will make referrals to Wesley Shelter’s Licensed Clinical Social Worker when victims are in need of therapy.
  • Develop safety plans & provide crisis assistance to Spanish speaking victims.
  • Will provide translation/interpretations and transportation as-needed.
  • Work with Law Enforcement and Medical Center to insure that victims’ rights are protected.
  • Identify and recruit bilingual volunteers for after-hours response and communication needs.

Maintain program data and statistical log of activities. Complete grant reports and submit monthly to Executive Director. Attend staff meetings. Perform other duties as assigned by Executive Director.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
