Position Summary:

A peer support specialist is an individual with similar lived experience that offers hope, support and advocacy. As a peer support specialist, you will utilize your lived experience to assist others on their journey to recovery and wellness. Peer support specialists will work together with Care Coordinators to empower individuals to reach and maintain their highest level of physical and mental well-being. Peer support specialists will assist and guide clients toward the identification and achievement of specific goals defined by the client and specified in their treatment plan. Peer support specialists will work collaboratively with local agencies and care teams to ensure success in the realms of recovery, housing, employment, and recidivism.

Required qualifications:

  • Currently reside or employed within the state of North Dakota;
  • Self-identify as an individual who has personal lived experience and is willing to publicly identify as an individual in recovery from a mental health disorder, brain injury, substance use disorder, or combination; or is a family member of an individual living with a mental health disorder, substance use disorder, brain injury or combination;
  • At least eighteen years of age;
  • Have a high school diploma or general equivalency or can demonstrate the ability to read and write at a level proficient enough for training, documentation, and the type of work peer support will require;
  • Successfully complete a division approved peer support training program.
  • Valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Peer Support Specialist
  • Case management experience preferred but not required
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Work experience in case management, parole and probation, addiction services

Pay

  • $18-$20/hr
