Gateway's largest facility, Atascocita is a residential correctional center focused solely on substance use treatment for court-ordered clients. With 12 buildings and nearly 500 clients, the facility provides a structured, secure environment without armed guards. Staff work collaboratively in a team of 170, including counselors, probation officers, and support staff. The location is undergoing major renovations to become a state-of-the-art treatment center. We foster a supportive culture with team-building activities, recognition programs, and a strong mission-driven focus on recovery and rehabilitation.The Clinical Director is responsible for:
- Coordinates the oversight of the clinical department of an assigned substance abuse treatment program, and ensures client needs and contractual obligations for quality and quantity of care are met. Provides crisis support to therapists and clients as needed. Where applicable, provides direct supervision to program professional therapists.
- Provides ongoing assessment and evaluation of the clinical program to ensure that client needs, licensing requirements, clinical supervision requirements, Gateway standards, and contractual obligations are met. Monitors trends and makes informed decisions regarding service provisions. Develops policies and procedures to ensure quality services for clients and accountability for staff. Partners with the state Clinical Training Institute coordinator to ensure all CTI standards are met and paperwork submitted per DSHS guidelines.
- Conducts regular clinical staff meetings to review clinical treatment plans and documentation, and ensure clinical standards compliance, and provide advice and guidance in resolving complex case problems. Approves recommendations for client disciplinary actions and discharges as appropriate.
- Coordinates orientation, training, and development of clinical staff. May coordinate and conduct scheduled in-services, or arrange outside training services in accordance with contract terms. Ensures Continuing Education Standards are followed and training materials recorded and stored per TCB CEH Standards.
- Oversees and/or investigates, documents, and resolves complaints or incidents concerning clients, family members, visitors, or staff. Refers sensitive issues to supervisor.
- Serves as program liaison, and maintains and fosters cooperative working relationships with variety of referral resources and services, community organizations, and criminal justice and social services agencies.
- Compiles various clinical data and information, and prepares related analyses and reports for review and use in planning and evaluating program services, contract compliance, and achievement of service delivery objectives. Assists in developing recommendations to improve overall program quality and effectiveness.
- Oversees hiring of counselors, or placement of student interns. Recommends approval of performance evaluations of assigned staff, or discipline or discharge as appropriate.
- Master's degree in counseling, social work or psychology
- Comprehensive knowledge of group and individual dynamics, conflict resolution, intervention techniques, and confrontation skills
- Strong knowledge of federal and state rules and regulations governing health records confidentiality
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities to organize, plan and direct activities and operations, resolve barriers to achievement of program services goals and objectives
- Strong organizational skills to organize, evaluate, plan operations of diverse programs and services dispersed across multiple programs
- Strong communication skills to exchange information and interact with treatment team, clients, client families and outside vendors and agencies
- Critical thinking, persuasion and negotiation and presentation skills
- Ability to walk and move about the facilities for up to two hours at a time, to monitor and interact with clients
- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Ability to record, proofread and check documents and files for accuracy, to prepare and analyze data and figures, transcribe, read
- Ability to use a keyboard and video display terminal to receive, retrieve, and/or audit information and data
- Ability to respond to telephones, and to hear and detect alarms and unusual noises
- Works in a correctional facility
- Range is between $90,000-$95,000 annually
