About Job

Provides a higher level of mental health services to individuals with severe and persistent mental illness involved in criminal justice system. The higher level of services is intended to stabilize the individual’s mental health symptoms, reduce the risk of recidivism, increase awareness of and participation in community and natural supports, develop client skills in self-advocacy, extend client tenure in the community, and assist clients in gaining the ability to participate in independent mental health care. Ensures services provided are in accordance with the TCOOMMI Program Guidelines and processes for ICM. Provides person directed services to assist in navigating access to medical, social, vocational, financial, educational, and other individualized services. Provides person directed skills training and psychosocial rehab to develop coping and other skills needed to feel successful in their home and community. Requires use of initiative and independent judgment to provide interventions in the community, home and school to individuals on caseload. Is responsible for initiating and collaboratively completing uniform assessments then organizing and documenting the plan for services to meet the individual’s identified needs. Must be effective at troubleshooting and organizing support, interventions, and services to achieve outcomes. Must have the ability to work independently and collaboratively as needed and have effective communication with supervisory staff when necessary. Expectations include timely and thorough documentation, time management and organizational skills, effective scheduling, ability to efficiently manage clinic flow, adhere to crisis procedures and be available to assist with crisis and other coverage areas as needed.

Education, Training and Experience (including licensure and certification)
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or related field from a four-year college or university.
  • At least two years of related experience and/or training in the field of mental health preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge and experience in providing case management, skills training, and symptom management services
to individuals with mental illness.
  • Ability to assess individual needs, to coordinate services, and to communicate effectively.
  • Knowledge of the social services system and the ability to connect individuals with appropriate services.
  • Ability to write clearly and professionally.
  • Ability to think clearly and logically to deal with potentially dangerous and/or emotional situations.
