Summary
Responsible for the coordination of patient transfers, assessing behavioral health patients in the emergency rooms and medical floors,
collaborating with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure appropriate placement of patients according to clinical standards
and guidelines. Serves as a clinical resource for patients seeking admission to the BHS behavioral health units, with responsibility for
clinical decisions and appropriate documentation. Maintains working knowledge of EMTALA and other regulations governing patient
transfers. Provides additional Intake and Triage services as appropriate, such as physician and other facilities referrals. Completes
established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned

Education
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduate of accredited school. Registered Nurse (RN) requires Bachelor’s degree.
Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family
Therapist require Master’s Degree, Doctorate in Psychology (PhD)
Experience
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: At least 3 years working with mentally ill patients
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Inpatient psychiatric experience
Certifications
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Possession of current Texas State License as Registered Nurse or as
a Qualified Mental Health Professional
