Position Summary
The Clinical Supervisor (RN) provides leadership and oversight for the nursing and medical assistant (MA) teams to ensure high-quality, efficient, and patient-centered care in alignment with FQHC standards and organizational policies. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring clinical workflows; managing training and privileging processes for all clinical staff; overseeing laboratory operations; and ensuring compliance with the Vaccines for Children (VFC) program and clinical inventory standards.
The Clinical Supervisor will work closely with the MA Lead to maintain effective onboarding, training, and privileging for medical assistants, while remaining accountable for the overall competency and performance of the clinical support team.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities*
Clinical Team Leadership
- Provide direct supervision and support to the RN team and oversight of the MA team through the MA Lead.
- Serve as a role model for professional practice and patient-centered care.
- Ensure appropriate staffing, scheduling, and coverage for nursing and MA teams.
- Monitor performance and conduct evaluations for clinical staff in collaboration with leadership.
- Interview, hire, and onboard as necessary to ensure appropriate staffing.
Training, Onboarding, and Competency Management
- Develop, implement, and maintain clinical workflows and protocols to support best practices and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Oversee and ensure completion of onboarding, training, and privileging for all new clinical staff.
- Collaborate with the MA Lead to ensure precepting and privileging of MAs is consistent and timely.
- Identify ongoing training needs and coordinate staff development opportunities.
Clinical Quality and Compliance
- Monitor adherence to infection control, OSHA, HIPAA, and other regulatory guidelines.
- Partner with Quality and Compliance teams to meet clinical performance metrics and quality improvement goals.
- Investigate and resolve clinical workflow issues or escalated patient care concerns.
Laboratory and Immunization Program Oversight
- Direct and oversee all lab services, ensuring compliance with CLIA, OSHA, and state/federal regulations.
- Maintain accurate documentation, quality controls, and logs for laboratory operations.
- Manage the Vaccine for Children (VFC) program, including vaccine ordering, storage, temperature monitoring, and reporting compliance.
- Oversee clinical supply and vaccine inventory, ensuring appropriate stock levels and cost-effective management.
Collaboration and Communication
- Serve as the primary liaison between clinical support staff and providers to ensure efficient care delivery.
- Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to policy development, workflow optimization, and strategic planning.
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that supports retention and staff satisfaction.
