Description

Expatiate Communications is hiring a On-Contract Transition Counselor to support multi-state students and families. The role involves guiding students through their post-secondary transition to college, vocational training, military service, or employment. You'll build relationships, coordinate resources, and assist with complex processes like social security and disability certifications. Candidates can live anywhere in the U.S., but occasional travel, primarily to California, is required.

Pay: $20.00 - $50.00 per hour/ DOE *Pay range may depend on location, skill, experience, and other factors and may include other additional incentives and benefits.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-on-one and group counseling to students to help them explore, plan, and prepare their post-secondary options.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive network of resources, including educational institutions, vocational programs, employers, and community agencies.
  • Assist students with all aspects of career and educational planning, including resume writing, interview skills, college applications, and financial aid resources.
  • Advocate for student needs and facilitate effective communication between students, parents, and schools.
  • Guide families through the application processes for social security administration and disability certifications.
  • Monitor and track student progress toward their transition goals, adjusting plans as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of all student interactions and progress.
  • Stay current with state and federal regulations, post-secondary opportunities, and career trends in the targeted states.

Requirements & Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 1 year of directly related and progressive experience as a counselor, with a focus on educational and career counseling.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with programs designed to improve educational opportunities for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
  • Equivalent to a master’s degree in counseling or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Credential in Counseling. A PPS Credential in School Counseling with Child Welfare Authorization is highly desired.
  • A copy of a detailed certification/credential, including the document number, must be attached or emailed with application.
