The Michael G. Foster School of Business Undergraduate Programs is committed to the recruitment and retention of a diverse student body. To this end, Undergraduate Diversity Services (UDS) has an outstanding opportunity for a UDS Community Program Manager to execute existing and design new community initiatives at the Foster School of Business to foster inclusion and belonging. The UDS Community Program Manager is responsible for cultivating an inclusive culture within the Undergraduate Programs Office and specifically within the UDS community. Intentional engagement with the current students and ‘alumni’ of our UDS early career and academic readiness programs is critical in creating a welcoming, authentic and empowering space in the Foster School and this position will play a leading role in realizing this goal.
Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Undergraduate Diversity Services, the UDS Community Program Manager will implement a broad spectrum of activities and services under the umbrella of Undergraduate Diversity Services. Important aspects of the work include direct student engagement and community-building, program management and development, holistic counseling, attention to detail, and frequent contact with the University’s administrative system. This position requires the use of sound judgment and thorough understanding of Foster Undergraduate Programs Office (UPO), as well as the broader UW partnerships that UDS have established to ensure success of their programs. The position requires an understanding of Foster, the UW Office of Minority Affairs & Diversity (OMA&D) and the UDS mission to provide a wide range of educational services to our student community.

- Annual UDS Graduation
- Annual Admit Celebration
- Quarterly UDS Student Leadership Retreats
- Quarterly UDS Kickoffs & Study Breaks
- UDS Alumni Mixers & Real Talks
- UDS Seminar
- Professionalism Workshops
- Partnering with UPO and OMA&D teams to support holistic resources, including but not limited to:
- Admissions, Engagement, & Operations (AEO) team on Affinity RSO support
- Foster Affinity RSO Adviser & Leadership Program
- EOP and Foster advising check-ins to ensure academic success
- Social media & community-engagement platforms (in collaboration with UDS Intern)
COMMUNITY BUILDING & RETENTION (60%)
- Design and administer UDS Community and Retention Strategy in collaboration with UDS Associate Director
- Lead planning and implementation of signature UDS programs and events: UDS End of Year Celebration, Admit Celebration, Quarterly Student Staff Leadership Retreat
- Plan and implement quarterly community-building events such as Quarterly Kickoffs and Study Breaks, UDS Alumni Real Talks & Mixers
- Develop engagement strategy of UDS Alumni
- Facilitate and manage leadership programming for Foster Affinity Registered Student Organizations (RSOs)
- Develop curriculum and serve as instructor for 1-credit UDS Seminar course
- Oversee UDS social-media accounts and community-engagement platforms to reach marketing goals and ensure compliance
- Analyze data related to UDS Students’ progress and engagement and, in coordination with the UDS team, Foster Advising and EOP Advising teams, respond and/or intervene as appropriate to facilitate retention of students who are experiencing difficulties or not making satisfactory progress.
- Provide holistic counseling to prospective pre-business students on Foster Admissions by offering resources to support their academic planning, such as referring to Foster and/or EOP Advising, Financial Aid Office, Registration, etc.
- In collaboration with Admissions, Engagement, & Operations (AEO) team and Faculty/staff Advisers, provide strategic programming and support for Foster affinity-based student club leadership boards
- Manage and implement UDS Community program budgets to ensure compliance
- Manage and retain UDS documents and folders in the shared network drive
- Manage and retain UDS Alumni Roster and UDS Program Student Roster in Salesforce
- Plan and implement cooperative programming with the UDS Team (Business Bridge, Building Networks, YEOC & Lead Forward related events)
- Assess and modify/update web site content as needed
- Support UPO “all-hands” events including, but not limited to: Week-of-Welcome & Foster Graduation
- Perform additional duties as requested by the Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Programs & Associate Director of Undergraduate Diversity Services.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of experience in event management, undergraduate student services, program management, or a related field. Equivalent education/experience may substitute for all minimum qualifications except when legally required (e.g., license/certification/registration).
- Proven ability to successfully organize, plan, and execute both small and large-scale events and programs while managing program budgets and paying attention to detail.
- Demonstrated experience in developing community-building initiatives to ensure belonging and inclusion.
- Proven ability to collaborate professionally and effectively communicate across various demographics of undergraduate students, community organizations, high schools and colleges.
- Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills, including public speaking and the ability to clearly articulate ideas.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Canva, and social media platforms such as LinkedIn and Instagram.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as required.
- Familiarity with the administrative structure of a large university.
- Experience facilitating workshops, teaching, or leading undergraduate student programming.
- Bilingual proficiency.
- Experience working with underserved or underrepresented student communities.
- Experience advising undergraduate students and developing academic success plans.
- Proficiency in data analytics and data management.
- Experience using Salesforce or similar CRM platforms.
