COUNSELOR

Objective and Job Summary:
Under the direction and supervision of the Principal, the Counselor ensures the academic and social-emotional success of all students through individual and group counseling as well as classroom presentations and staff consultation.
The Counselor serves as a liaison between teachers, parents, and students and assists in the establishment and maintenance of the good community, school, and public relations. At the high school grades, the Counselor assists students in developing a personal learning plan that will guide them to high school graduation, college entrance and/or career readiness.

Duties and Responsibilities:
● Provide individual and group counseling and guidance services to students;
● Prepare and deliver classroom presentations;
● Serve as a member of SST, 504, and IEP teams as needed;
● Support with student investigations, discipline, and family communication;
● Provide ongoing support, professional development, feedback and coaching to teachers and staff;
● Assist families with school-related problems;
● Refer students to social service and governmental agencies, support groups and other community resources as appropriate;
● Coordinate logistics and execution of college readiness activities such as advisory, tutoring, and test preparation;
● Guide individuals and groups of students through the development of educational and career plans;
● Provide orientation activities for new students to the school;
● Guide groups and individual students in the application of test results and information to their educational and career plans;
● Assist students with scholarship and financial aid information;
● Assist with the identification and planning of college field trips;
● Enhance college-going culture and design;
● Develop a speaker series designed to highlight college and career pathways; and
● Other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

● California Clear PPS Credential in School Counseling/Guidance required.
● Experience with individual and group counseling preferred.
● Bachelor’s Degree required, Masters Degree preferred.
● Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact and forge relationships with students, parents, staff and community members.
● Possess a work ethic and personal belief system that aligns with Scholarship Prep.
● Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $63,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
