The Department of Psychiatry at Albany Medical College is excited to welcome a motivated board certified or board eligible attending psychiatrist to join our Psychiatric Services team for weekend shifts. This position is ideal for those looking to leverage their expertise while working in a supportive and collaborative environment. The role involves working Saturdays and Sundays from 9am to 5pm for three weekends each month.

As an attending psychiatrist, your key responsibilities will include:

• Supervising residents and overseeing overall patient care on our 26-bed inpatient unit.
• Managing the consultation-liaison service, including consults in the Albany Medical Center Emergency Room and on medical floors.
• Providing care to designated patients alongside residents, with potential for independent patient care outside of the resident schedule.
• Reviewing and guiding consultations conducted by psychiatry residents on call, offering educational support and treatment planning.

The schedule typically allows for the inpatient service line to be completed early in the shift, leaving ample time for consults with residents in the ER and throughout the hospital, as well as providing needed guidance and support on the inpatient unit.

We offer a competitive starting base salary ranging from $240,000 to $250,000, negotiable based on rank and experience. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to apply for an academic appointment as Assistant Professor, depending on qualifications. Additionally, per diem weekend options are available to increase your engagement with our community.
