DESCRIPTION:
The Albany County Department of Mental Health is seeking applications to fill a vacancy for a Supervising Psychologist. This is a supervisory and administrative position responsible for assuring the overall quality of psychological services pro-vided to individuals receiving care within the Department of Mental Health or through its contracted service providers. Thorough oversight of professional staff providing direct clinical services and/or psychological testing and/or monitoring and evaluating the overall quality of mental hygiene services delivered (i.e., mental health, chemical dependency, developmental disability). Work is performed under the general direction of the Director of Community Services or his/her designee. Does related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a doctoral degree in psychology and three (3) years of experience in the administration of mental hygiene services.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be a licensed Psychologist (possession of a license to practice psychology issued by the New York State Department of Education) within six (6) months of appointment.
NOTE: This title will be filled on a provisional basis. Selected candidate(s) must sign up for the civil service exam when it is posted, pass and be reachable on the resulting eligible list in order to obtain a permanent appointment.
