DEPARTMENT: INTENSIVE SERVICES FOSTER CARE (ISFC)
SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS
The in home support counselor (IHSC) is responsible for reviewing the individual needs and services plan with the ISFC resource parent and child and family team.
IN ADDITION, THE IN HOME SUPPORT COUNSELOR SHALL:
1. Provide in-home direct services to resource families and one-on-one services to the ISFC child/youth as needed. Establish positive and supportive relationship with the ISFC child/youth and his or her family/caretaker and maintain appropriate and professional boundaries.
2. Ensure 24-hour availability and crisis intervention on as needed basis. Participate in the development of appropriate crisis plans.
3. Reviewing the individual needs and service plan with the ISFC resource parents and the child and family team as needed.
4. the Communicate with teachers, clinicians, resource parents, birth parents, relatives, community workers and others directly involved in the client’s treatment plan.
5. Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings, weekly supervisions and other meetings as assigned.
6. Ensure that all paperwork is complete and that deadlines are met; such as, contact notes, EPSDT billing and USL logs; all paperwork is submitted to ISFC Program manager on a weekly basis.
7. Participate in the development and implementation of behavioral plan and treatment goals with the client and caregivers.
8. Conduct all functions in accordance with Agency guidelines, policies and procedures.
9. Comply with applicable professional licensing or certification requirements and ethics.
10. Engage their work using Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI).
11. Participate in self-learning required to stay abreast of best practices.
12. Employ a strength-based and trauma informed approach with children/youth, families, and colleagues.
13. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
They will report directly to the ISFC Program Manager.
EXPECTATIONS
The IHSC must adhere and apply Nuevo Amanecer Latino’s policies and procedures, code of ethics, and also apply Federal, State, and County laws and regulations. They must participate as a team member of the continuous quality improvement process of Nuevo Amanecer Latino Children’s Services. Apply one’s own code of ethics.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. A bachelor's degree six months of experience in working with children who have serious emotional or behavioral needs or children who have special needs including but not limited to intensive medical needs.
2. Minimum of an associate’s degree and one year's experience in working with children who have serious emotional or behavioral needs or children who have special needs including but not limited to intensive medical needs.
3. Bilingual English/Spanish Required.
4. Must possess a valid California Driver’s License.
5. Statement of sound physical health from a licensed physician, including tuberculin skin test.
6. Fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice, FBI and Child Abuse Index.
7. Must meet all requirements set by Community Care Licensing pertaining to the hiring of employees by a licensed community care facility.
8. Appropriate experience and education in a related field:
9. Ability to establish rapport with children/youth and families as well as work effectively within the agency and the social work community at large.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The IHSC must have the ability to communicate orally with board of directors, management, and other co-workers, both individually and in front of a group. They must have knowledge of regular usages of the telephone and e-mail for communication.The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. WORK ENVIRONMEMT
This job is performed both indoors in a traditional office setting and outdoors traveling to and from resource homes and to DCFS facilities. Activities include extended periods of sitting and extensive work at a computer monitor and phone.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. They must be able to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. The IHSC worker must have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions asked by managers, clients, county workers, etc. They must also be able to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or styles.
REASONINIG SKILLS
The IHSC must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. They must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram and/or schedule forms. They must also be able to define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Salary: $22/HR to $24/HR
