Summary/Objective
Provides social work services to patients and their families. Counsels and provides crisis intervention for patients, including assessment and treatment of emotional and behavioral problems related to illness. Participates as a member of multi-disciplinary team and may assist patients in treatment planning.
Essential Functions
Provides direct social work services of individual, family, and group counseling, to all cancer patients and their families to assist them in their coping with treatment and to their altered lifestyle.
Accepts and assesses the medically related social, emotional, financial, environmental, and health care needs of referrals from physicians, support staff and families. Provides referral to appropriate community resources.
Provides consultative services to physicians and groups (community agencies, committees, family, etc.) engaged in an effort to solve the problems of the patients.
Collaborates with the Cancer Center multidisciplinary treatment team to develop patient management techniques and to jointly plan patient care.
Participates in education and professional enhancements of self, co-workers, and the community.
Performs documentation duties on all patients in a timely, accurate and concise manner.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Ability to work and make decisions independently and related in a professional manner with a variety of personalities.
Travel
No travel is expected for this position other than occasional travel to corporate sites regarding employee relations issues.
Schedule: Mon-Friday 8a-5pm
Requirements: Required Education and Experience
MSW graduate of an accredited School of Social Work. One-year experience in a health care setting. Knowledge of Medicaid and Medicare system.
Preferred Education and Experience
Florida Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
