SUMMARY

Family Service League is seeking a full-time Counselor for our Children and Family Treatment and Support Services (CFTSS) Program. The Counselor will provide Community Psychiatric Support and Treatment (CPST) services to youth and families in their homes. These services are intended to assist the child/youth and family/caregiver in achieving stability and functional improvement in daily living, personal recovery and/or resilience, family and interpersonal relationships, and school and community integration.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Counselor will conduct assessments and ongoing counseling in the family’s home and/ or community.
  • Prepare Treatment Plans.
  • Follow the established treatment plan goals.
  • The Counselor will provide intensive interventions, crisis avoidance, strengths based planning and rehabilitative support for children/youth and caregivers.
  • Complete all documentation in accordance with OMH and CFTSS standards in an electronic medical record.
  • The Counselor will submit weekly documentation regarding visits conducted and adhere to established direct service minimums.
  • Collaborate with other CFTSS and care coordinator providers.
  • Attend routine supervision/team meetings.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, or a related Mental Health field with 3 years of experience in a behavioral health setting working with children/youth OR a Master’s Degree with 1 year of experience required.

In-depth knowledge of children's mental health, family systems and a creative approach to intervening required.

Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills required.

Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and familiarity with electronic medical records required.

Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

Valid and clean NYS Driver’s License, reliable vehicle, and valid auto insurance required to drive from worksite to worksite.

Must have the availability to work evenings and/or Saturdays.
