Job Summary
The Recreation Therapist plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals through therapeutic recreation activities. This position involves assessing clients' needs and designing tailored programmes that promote physical, emotional, and social well-being. The Recreation Therapist will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to implement and evaluate therapeutic interventions that encourage personal growth and recovery.

Duties

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients to determine their recreational needs and preferences.
• Develop and implement individualised treatment plans that incorporate therapeutic activities suited to each client’s abilities and goals.
• Facilitate group and individual recreational therapy sessions, including arts and crafts, sports, games, and outdoor activities.
• Monitor clients' progress towards their goals, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals, families, and community resources to support the holistic care of clients.
• Maintain accurate documentation of client assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes in accordance with organisational policies.
• Provide education to clients and their families regarding the benefits of recreational therapy and how to engage in activities outside of therapy sessions.
• Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all participants during recreational activities.

Qualifications

• A degree in Recreational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, or a related field is required.
• Certification as a Recreational Therapist (e.g., CTRS) is preferred but not mandatory.
• Previous experience working with diverse populations in a therapeutic setting is advantageous.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients from various backgrounds.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail in planning and documenting therapy sessions.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• A passion for promoting health and well-being through recreational activities is essential.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $24.10 - $29.02 per hour
