Saint Andrew School, located on the north side of the city, is seeking a full-time school counselor/Social Worker to serve the social-emotional needs of students from grades PreK through 8th grade. This position is accountable for promoting student success, providing preventive services, and responding to identified student emotional and cognitive needs by designing and implementing a comprehensive school counseling program that promotes student achievement and wellness.

Essential Position Functions:

  • Present school counseling classroom lessons based on American of School Counselors Association student success standards
  • Short-term counseling with students and provide referrals for long-term support
  • Provide counseling (group or individual) to teach intervention strategies to increase academic success, conflict resolution, anger management or adjustment to school.
  • Collaborate with families/teachers/administrators/community for student success
  • Advocate for students at student support meetings and other student-focused meetings
  • Mobilize family, school, and community resources to enable students to learn as effectively as possible at school
  • Collaborate with staff and the Student Services Team to support students through direct support, in-services, or behavior management
  • Assist with crisis intervention, de-escalation, consulting on serious events and develop individual safety plans for students in need
  • Implement the practices of the Administrators’ Manual for Student Crisis and partners with the principal in student crisis situations

Preference will be given to applicants with the following:

  • Illinois PEL School Support Endorsement
  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
  • Licensed Social Worker (LSW)
  • Psychology license
  • Experience in a school setting

Education
Required
Master's or better in social work or related field.

This position has an annualized salary range of - $40,000 - $50,000. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on many factors including but not limited to: relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.
