About Job

Social Worker, M.S.W- Social Services

Assesses and coordinates resources to meet the psychosocial needs of oncology patients and their families to include: adult, and geriatric

Acts as a liaison for oncology patients with families, health care professionals, and the community

Manages, plans and controls the workflow of the oncology psychosocial service to support the patients and the oncology center

Have knowledge of medical terminology, psychosocial and home assessments, systems theory, good verbal and written communication skills, community organizations and resources, counseling ability, crisis assessment and intervention

Skilled in public relations, organizational skills and documentation

Exhibits a professional and caring appearance and demeanor

Proficient with case management, interviewing, patient and family assessments, counseling, referrals/linkage, crisis intervention, documentation of psychosocial needs of oncology patients and coordinating resources to meet patient needs

Able to work well with the Oncology Center staff and community, state and federal agencies; must adapt easily to change and be able to evaluate a crisis situation, formulate a plan of action for resolution, and follow through in the best interest of the parties involved

Function as an advocate on behalf of oncology patients with other professionals and the community

Able to evaluate the overall needs of the oncology patient population and offer individual, group counseling
and/or support groups to patients and families

Participates in Quality Improvement

Education/Experience:

BS Degree in social work or related field
Experience: Minimum of at least one year experience in a medical setting preferred. Prefer LCSW and/or
at least one year of clinical experience in a healthcare setting
