Job Summary
Under the direction of the National Director, Trauma-Informed Practice, the Social Work Intern – Trauma-Informed Practice will engage in experiences that deepen their understanding of trauma-informed practice, develop skills in navigating national systems-level change , engage with national trainings, consultations, and partnership conversations, and develop skills in understanding and utilizing national data-sets to make informed decisions .

Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Under supervision from the Director Trauma-Informed Practic e, the Social Work Intern – Trauma-Informed Practice will:
- Complete internship hours on a consistent basis as agreed upon by the field supervisor.
- Demonstrate ethical and professional behavior by maintaining compliance with the social worker code of ethics.
- Use knowledge of engagement, assessment, intervention, and evaluation techniques to strengthen Boys & Girls Clubs local support of youth and families.
- Apply knowledge of individual mentoring and small group facilitation w hen working with local organizations to improve their practice and approach.
- Asist local Boys & Girls Clubs to proactively engage Boys & Girls Club staff, caregivers, school professionals, and outside agencies to build comprehensive behavior and success plans.
- Support the d esign and facilitat ion of learning experiences on resiliency building, trauma, and mental health.
- Maintain accurate data and tracking systems to monitor progress.
- Utilize data to evaluate programs and inform approach.
- Contribute to the improvement and development of trauma-informed policies, practices, programs, and resources.
- Support the facilitation of field-facing consultation to guide and support Clubs seeking to undertake shifts towards a trauma-informed culture.
- No direct supervisory responsibility.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Advanced (2nd year) Master of Social Work Students from approved universities.
- Previous experience working with youth preferred.
Subject Matter Expertise
- Demonstrates knowledge of trauma-informed theories, principles, and practices (includes multi-faceted understanding of concepts such as community trauma, intergenerational and historical trauma)
- Demonstrates knowledge of bio-psycho-social perspective.
- Demonstrates knowledge of micro, mezzo, macro interventions.
- Compassion, empathy, patience, flexibility, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to utilize solutions-oriented thinking when faced with a challenge.
- Normal internal working environment.
- Hybrid role with some in-person meetings
