Intake Assessment Therapist – Substance Use Disorder Outpatient

Location: Columbus, OH (with travel between facilities as needed)
Reports To: Clinical Director

Position Summary

The Intake Assessment Therapist plays a critical role in the admissions and clinical process by completing comprehensive assessments and supporting clients in their recovery journey. This position ensures all required intake assessments are conducted in compliance with regulatory and Robin Recovery standards. When not conducting assessments, the therapist may step into group facilitation (SUD and TBS groups) or travel to other Columbus-area facilities to provide assessment support.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Assessments

  • Conduct biopsychosocial assessments for all new clients entering outpatient services.
  • Administer and interpret standardized assessments, including:
  • GAD-7 (Generalized Anxiety Disorder)
  • PHQ-9 (Patient Health Questionnaire for Depression)
  • RAS (Recovery Assessment Scale)
  • ASAM Criteria (Level of Care placement)
  • BAM (Brief Addiction Monitor)
  • Accurately document findings and provide diagnostic impressions to guide treatment planning.
  • Collaborate with the clinical team to develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment results.

Group & Program Support

  • Provide group coverage for Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS) groups when needed.
  • Support staff coverage needs across multiple Robin Recovery facilities in Columbus by traveling to sites as assigned.
  • Ensure group facilitation aligns with evidence-based practices and Robin Recovery’s client-centered philosophy.

Collaboration & Compliance

  • Work closely with admissions and clinical staff to ensure timely completion of assessments.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with OhioMHAS, Medicaid, and Robin Recovery policies.
  • Uphold confidentiality standards and ethical responsibilities as outlined by professional licensing boards.
  • Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field required.
  • Active Ohio license (LPC, LPCC, LSW, LISW, MFT, IMFT) preferred or in process of obtaining.
  • Experience conducting clinical assessments in substance use disorder or mental health settings.
  • Familiarity with ASAM criteria and standardized clinical assessments strongly preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to travel locally between Columbus facilities as needed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour
