Job Summary:
Be a part of a team working to make difference in the substance use disorder crisis! We are currently hiring Night Counselors for residential treatment programs, located in Santa Cruz and Watsonville. Night Counselors are an important part of supporting a safe and secure environment for individuals working to recover from substance use disorders.
Our residential substance use disorder treatment program is looking for experienced individuals who have a passion for working with people struggling with substance use and mental health challenges. As a learning community, Encompass provides employees and interns with on-going training and support to provide quality services at our residential treatment programs. As part of employment, employees register as substance use counselors and are supported with achieving certification.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide therapeutic intervention services based on best practices for substance use and/or mental health disorders.
- Ensure adequate security monitoring for program residents and property.
- Responsible for managing client safety, and facility or disaster emergencies, while on duty.
- May provide crisis management.
- Provide support of clients and their families, including evaluations, assessments, counseling, and/or the facilitation of individual, group, family, and crisis counseling toward clients’ treatment plans.
- Support file maintenance, medication support, incident reporting, shift change reporting, and household duties as required.
- Provide general security checks and headcounts on a regular basis.
- Communicate effectively and use current technology in the following areas: case notes, incident reports, and correspondence with staff as well as community service providers.
Qualifications:
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred (not required)
- High school diploma or GED (some college preferred)
- 1+ year of related or lived experience with substance use disorders
- Ability to work independently, and with co-workers, and to manage time well
- Valid driver’s license and insurable DMV record required
- Ability to competently work with Electronic Health Records (EHRs)
- Computer literacy required
