General Description | Primary Purpose:

The Care Coordinator assists with the student care services system under the direction of the Associate D ean of Students, Care Services , including case management, educating the UNF community about well-being and situational assessment, guiding students to appropriate resources , and offering connection and interaction opportunities.

Job Function | Care Case Management:

The Care Coordinator reviews cases, specializing in connections and meaningful interactions with students who would benefit from a more personalized, integrated approach. The Care Coordinator will meet with students to get a well-rounded understanding of the situation. A major responsibility of the Care Coordinator position is interacting with students about their wellness and personal success plan, as well as connecting them to the appropriate resources or areas of campus for a well-rounded experience. Additionally, the Coordinator prepares all related correspondence and records for their caseload.

Job Function | Nesting Place:

The Care Coordinator supports the Nesting Place program, which provides support and programming for housing and resource insecure students . The Care Coordinator maintain the Nesting Place student roster and applicable campus updates. The Care Coordinator will ensure students are given opportunities to connect and case management to assess academic and behavioral factors and promote plans for success.

The Care Coordinator is also responsible for having an understanding of FERPA, the Clery Act, VAWA, Title IX, and other local, state, and federal regulations and laws.

The Care Coordinator will also assist in the development of statistical and informational reports, including dissemination of materials, as necessary.

Job Function | Exceptional Withdrawal:

The Care Coordinator supports the Exceptional Withdrawal Program. The Care Coordinator can assist with cases when the Case Manager is unavailable, may also monitor applications and assist with the re-integration/re-enrollment process.

The Care Coordinator also assists with informing key campus partners about the process .

Job Function | Policies, Committees, Partnerships:

The Care Coordinator assists with the CARE Team , including supporting involved parties, educating students and offering them assistance and support. The Care Coordinator works with appropriate campus partners , including, but not limited to, University Police Department, Housing & Residence Life, Counseling Center, Undergraduate Studies, etc.

Marginal Functions:

The Care Coordinator supports the development and maintenance of informational material and the departmental web page. Maintains confidentiality of student records. Other duties as assigned.

Departmental Requirements:

An understanding of student development, behavioral health, risk, and protective factors, and building university partnerships.

Supervision Exercised:

The Care Coordinator is responsible for supporting the supervision of the Support Specialist(s)/MSW intern(s).

Supervision Received:

The Care Coordinator reports to the Associate D ean, Care Services and will communicate on a regular basis to ensure the mission of the Care Services team aligns with the Dean of Students Office and the division.

Policymaking and/or Interpretation:

The Care Coordinator is responsible for reviewing and understanding policies related to student health and wellness, retention efforts, student services, etc.

Program Direction and Development:

Collaborates with the Associate D ean in the development and management of policies and procedures for Care Services, CARE Team, Nesting Place, and partnership with the Master of Social Work program.

Level of Public Contact:

Contact with students, faculty, staff, parents, community members, law enforcement, etc. Serves on University-related and community committees and works cooperatively with colleagues on campus and at other institutions . May represent the Care Services team in university matters as assigned by the Dean of Students or Associate Vice President .

Monetary Responsibility:

Manages resources for Nesting Place students, including basic supplies, toiletries, clothing items, and supplies for academic success.

Available to serve as back -up to the Associate D ean, Care Services related to the oversight of the care services budget and for general office management.

Statement of Responsibility for Confidential Data:

The Care Coordinator shares responsibility with the Associate D ean, Care Services for all confidential disciplinary records related to student discipline at the University.

The Care Coordinator may access educational records for students as needed to evaluate appropriate intervention or assistance for students. The Coordinator will have a thorough understanding of FERPA and federal and state laws regarding confidentiality and disclosure of student records.

Required Qualifications

Master's or Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219.

This position requires a background check. In conjunction with the University's policy, this position may also require a credit check.

The holder of this position is designated as a “Responsible Employee” pursuant to their role under Title IX. Therefore, the incumbent must promptly report allegations of sexual misconduct, sexual violence, and child sexual abuse by or against any student, employee, contractor, or visitor to the University’s Title IX Administrator or any divisional Title IX Coordinator

This position has been designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). This position has been designated as a CSA because it involves significant responsibility for student and campus activities and/or responsibility for campus security. As such, any person in this position must report to the University Police Department a crime or an incident that might be a crime that he/she becomes aware of. This position has a reporting requirement because the University believes that responsibility for students, campus activities and/or campus security will make the holder of this position someone members of the University community will see as an authority figure and someone to whom they can seek help. A CSA is not expected to investigate or determine whether a criminal incident actually took place. A CSA ’ s responsibility is a duty to report. All positions designated as CSAs are required to complete an online or in - person training session.
