About Job

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced physician leader to serve as Medical Director of Behavioral Health and Psychiatry Residency Program Director. This dual-role position offers the opportunity to shape both a growing behavioral health service line and an accredited psychiatry residency program in the Orange Country area.


Position Overview

The physician will devote their principal effort to the management, leadership, and administration of the behavioral health program, as well as the direction, teaching, and oversight of the psychiatry residency program. The ideal candidate will bring strong clinical expertise, administrative skills, and a passion for medical education and patient-centered care.


Medical Director Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall leadership, management, and administration of a behavioral health program.
  • Partner with operational leaders and clinic managers to address program development, patient flow, and staff engagement.
  • Oversee physician and provider scheduling to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Conduct regular meetings with providers to review practice performance, quality initiatives, and team effectiveness.
  • Guide strategic planning, including program growth, new service opportunities, and resource optimization.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and promote service excellence.
  • Support budget planning and provide physician input for staff evaluations.
  • Serve as a mentor and role model for behavioral health providers, fostering collaboration and positive morale.


Psychiatry Residency Program Director Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall supervision, direction, evaluation, and administration of a psychiatry residency program.
  • Recruit, mentor, and evaluate faculty and residents, ensuring excellence in clinical care, teaching, research, and professionalism.
  • Maintain full accreditation of the program through the ACGME and other relevant accrediting bodies.
  • Guide curriculum development, resident training schedules, and faculty teaching assignments.
  • Ensure residents meet the requirements for certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).
  • Provide regular advising, evaluation, and feedback to residents regarding performance and progress.
  • Oversee faculty development, scholarly activity, and clinical research opportunities.
  • Collaborate with academic affiliates to align medical student and resident education with institutional goals.
  • Demonstrate leadership in quality patient care, serving as an attending physician and role model for residents.
  • Promote a culture of continual improvement, professionalism, and academic excellence.


Qualifications:

  • MD or DO degree with board certification in Psychiatry.
  • Eligible for or holding an unrestricted medical license.
  • Significant clinical and administrative leadership experience in behavioral health.
  • Demonstrated commitment to medical education with prior experience in residency training or program leadership.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to mentor physicians, residents, and staff in a collaborative environment.
