Purpose of Role

The Financial Aid Counselor assists with the day-to-day operations of the Financial Aid office and ensuring the effective delivery of financial aid services to students. This role involves developing and implementing University policies and procedures, as well as ensuring compliance with relevant federal, state and University regulations.

About This Opportunity

Joining our Business Affairs team, the Financial Aid Counselor will be responsible for the following:

• Process Federal Direct Subsidized, Unsubsidized and PLUS loans, as well as private lender education loan applications.
• Perform Verification procedure for FAFSA records selected for verification.
• Execute all aspects of ISIR (Institutional Student Information Record) processing, including downloading through Colleague, importing and printing ISIR data.
• Submit ISIR corrections as necessary through the FAFSA Partner Portal.
• Financial aid packaging for new and returning students.
• Counsel students and parents in aspects of financial aid, through in-person and virtual meetings, as well as over the phone and email.
• NYS TAP (Tuition Assistance Program) Remittance Processing.
• Public speaking presentations, including representing the Financial Aid Office at campus recruitment events.
• Promote a collaborative environment within the Financial Aid Office and with campus partners.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in related field; Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of customer service experience preferred.
• Previous financial aid experience preferred.
