We are seeking a School Social Worker to provide an integrated network of student support services to help students succeed in school.

You'll do this by:

  • Serving as liaison between home and school by communicating with parents/guardians based on student needs and documenting interventions.
  • Assessing the needs for additional services, such as outpatient counseling or other community-based supports, and assisting students and families with the referral process.
  • Participating in parent-teacher conferences in order to assist teachers in handling questions in discussions about students' emotional and behavioral problems.
  • Collaborating with district liaisons and Committees on Special Education, BOCES staff and parents, on the career and technical programming to support the students' adjustment.
  • Providing counseling services for students based on social, emotional, and school adjustment needs, including risk assessments, as well as maintaining electronic logs of the counseling services as per the recommendation on student IEPs.

Job Qualifications


Master’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited university

Valid New York State Certification as a School Social Worker

New York State License as a Certified Social Worker (LMSW or LCSW) preferred

Prior school experience preferred
