Milestone Centers, a subsidiary of Partners For Quality Inc., is a nonprofit, community-based human services agency supporting individuals with behavioral health challenges and intellectual & developmental disabilities in communities throughout Western Pennsylvania. Our Agency oversees 20 residential settings, two outpatient offices, three adult training facilities, a prevocational enterprise program, a consumer drop-in center, habilitation services, and two Health Care Quality Units in Butler and Warren, which train professionals in 18 counties. Milestone Centers has earned certification from the Sanctuary Institute for providing trauma-informed care.

he Peer Support Specialist supports, engages and encourages individuals to participate in the Peer Support Program. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Demonstrates and reflects a commitment to the mission and values of Milestone by serving others with respect, dignity, and compassion.
- Utilizes Sanctuary Model’s shared values, the Seven Commitments and tools to conduct daily tasks.
- Helps individuals:
- Develop strategies to manage illness and wellness
- Develop value roles as student, worker and/or community member
- Access and maintain stable housing and improve housing quality
- Develop self-advocacy skills with medical and service providers, employers, etc.
- Maintain and develop social relationships with family, friends, other natural supports and other peer supporters.
- Utilizes crisis support to help individuals develop and use Action Plans for Prevention and Recovery, Wellness Recovery, Action Plans, Mental Health Advance Directives and other crisis and crisis prevention plans.
- Participates in weekly treatment team and staff meetings.
- Facilitates groups.
- Assists individuals in learning shared decision-making skills, wellness concepts and health care self-management skills and developing recovery focused goals.
- Transports individuals to specialty physician appointments and makes home visits when necessary

Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent
- Must have at least two years of personal mental health recovery
- Must be a Certified Peer Support Specialist
- Effective communication skills; basic computer skills; role-modeling skills; positive interactions
- Organizational skills regarding paperwork and documentation
- Written and verbal communication that is legible and grammatically acceptable
- Valid PA Driver’s License
- Act 33, 34 and FBI Clearances
