Job Description
Doral Academy of North Carolina is seeking a dedicated and energetic After-School Counselor to support students in a structured, engaging, and safe after-school program. The ideal candidate will supervise students, facilitate activities, and ensure a positive environment that aligns with the school’s mission and values.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.20 per hour
Work Hours: Between 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Specific Roles and Responsibilities:
Core Instructional Responsibilities
- Supervise and ensure the safety and wellbeing of students at all times.
- Plan and facilitate age-appropriate activities, including academic support, recreational games, and enrichment opportunities.
- Provide guidance and support to students, helping them develop social skills and positive behaviors.
- Assist students with homework and academic enrichment activities.
- Maintain a structured and engaging after-school environment.
- Take attendance daily and ensure students are accounted for at all times.
- Provide snacks to students and ensure all food-related activities follow safety and cleanliness guidelines.
Core Professional Responsibilities
- Report any behavioral incidents, accidents, or injuries to the front office to ensure proper communication with parents.
- Work collaboratively with the after-school program team.
- Attend staff meetings and professional development as required.
- Adhere to all child abuse reporting requirements/laws. Required Qualifications:
- Prospective North Carolina assistant teachers must have at least a high school diploma or GED.
- Preferably, they will also have work or volunteer experience working with children.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
