Position: Substance Abuse Counselor, Drug Medi-Cal Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program
Position Summary: Under the general supervision of the Clinical Director, the Substance Abuse Counselor is responsible to conduct outreach and recruitment, intake/assessment, group and individual counseling related to drug and alcohol abuse, patient education, case management, to develop treatment plan and provide referral services .
Duties and Responsibilities: The Substance Abuse Counselor assumes the following duties and responsibilities:
- Conduct community outreach and recruitment
- Conduct screening/intake/assessment, alcohol/drug testing, and develop treatment plans
- Conduct large and small group counseling and individual counseling with clients
- Provide patient education, crisis intervention, family therapy, collateral services, and medication services
- Provide case management, counseling, discharge services, and client referral to appropriate services
- Provide information to clients and response to telephone and walk-in inquiries
- Work closely with the DPSS and Probation Department and the Court System
- Maintain confidential case notes/files and keep activity log, forms and reports up-to-date in a timely manner
- Attend all meetings and trainings required by the program
- Maintain a good working relationship with affiliated agencies' staff and CAA’s staff
Perform other related duties and supportive services as assigned
