Description:

For over 46 years, A Safe Place has been a beacon of hope in Lake County, empowering survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking to rebuild their lives. Join our mission to provide safety, foster independence, and create brighter futures.

As part of our team, you’ll transform lives daily, whether by directly supporting survivors or building the systems that sustain our work. Together, we create a resilient community where every survivor finds hope, safety, and the strength to thrive.

As the Youth Services Team Up Program Coordinator, you will oversee daily program operations, build partnerships with local organizations, and support high-risk families and children affected by gun violence. Your work will ensure seamless service access and contribute to violence reduction within the Waukegan-North Chicago Corridor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Oversight: Manage daily operations, ensure program fidelity, and lead monthly case staffing meetings.
  • Direct Services: Provide trauma-informed screenings, assessments, psychoeducation, psychological first aid, resource navigation, and trauma-specific therapy.
  • Intake and Outreach: Conduct client intakes, assess needs, and lead community outreach, including trauma awareness training.
  • Staff Development: Train, supervise, and develop program staff, ensuring career advancement opportunities and secondary trauma support.
  • Collaboration: Partner with local councils, outreach programs, and stakeholders to support violence reduction and participate in required meetings and training.
  • Reporting: Collect and submit quarterly performance data and reports as required.
  • Team Engagement: Actively participate in staff meetings, case management, and training sessions, collaborating effectively across the organization.
  • Additional Duties: Complete IM+CAN training certification, holiday coverage commitments, and other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or a related field.
  • Valid Illinois LCPC or LCSW license.
  • Bilingual Spanish fluency required.
  • 3–5 years of supervisory experience required.
  • Proven experience in crisis intervention, case management, and advocacy.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Cultural competence, ethical practice, and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds.
  • Commitment to supporting survivors, fostering a violence-free society, and thriving in a collaborative environment.

What You’ll Experience:

  • Schedule: 9:00 AM–5:00 PM, with flexibility to address client needs after-school hours.
  • Work Environment: Professional office settings and secure, confidential shelters.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 20 pounds, navigate stairs, and move freely across facilities.
  • Service Commitment: 70% direct service target (60% for supervisory roles).
  • Team Engagement: Active participation in 70% of staff meetings.
  • Holiday Coverage: Commitment to two 4-hour shifts for holiday coverage to ensure continuous support.
  • Travel: Community outreach, training, and other duties as required.
  • Transportation: Reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and active auto insurance required.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary: $70,000 annually, paid bi-weekly.
  • Full-Time Benefits: Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance; flexible spending account (FSA); 401(k); paid time off; and Employee Assistance Program.

Why Join Us?

  • Be a part of a compassionate, mission-driven team.
  • Inspire resilience and healing in individuals and families.
  • Contribute to over 48 years of impactful community work.
