OVERVIEW:
The Behavioral Health Counselor is responsible for facilitating individual and group sessions with residents requiring mental health and substance abuse disorder counseling. Associated paperwork for the program is to be completed and submitted, per agency record-keeping requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administrative
- Submits monthly reports and plans of action on any deficits noted.
- Meets weekly with case managers to review assigned resident progress and/or problems and provides guidance on the same.
- Attends treatment team meetings as needed to discuss resident progress and concerns.
- Meets as needed with case managers to review assigned resident progress and/or problems.
- Meets with Clinical Director weekly in regards to required clinical supervision.
PROGRAM/ACTIVITIES:
Direct Services
- Provides individual, and group counseling services when clinically indicated.
- Provides as-needed diagnostic assessments of adults as appropriate.
- Provides crisis intervention services as needed and clinically indicated.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in counseling, social work or other related field required.
- Licensure with the State of Ohio Counselor and Social Worker Board as a L.P.C. or L.S.W.
- Prior experience in mental health and substance abuse services.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Frequently required to sit, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must be able to lift and/or move 25 pounds.
