Job Summary
The Wound Care Nurse plays a critical role in the healthcare team, specializing in the assessment, treatment, and management of patients with acute and chronic wounds. This position requires a compassionate and skilled nurse who can provide high-quality care to patients across various settings, including long-term care facilities and medical offices. The Wound Care Nurse will work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans that promote healing and improve patient outcomes.

Duties

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to evaluate wound conditions and overall health status.
  • Develop and implement effective wound care treatment plans based on diagnostic evaluations.
  • Perform wound dressing changes, debridement, and other necessary procedures to facilitate healing.
  • Educate patients and their families on wound care techniques, pain management strategies, and prevention of complications.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in a Level II Trauma Center to ensure cohesive patient care.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress, treatment plans, and responses to interventions using ICD-10 coding as necessary.
  • Monitor patients for signs of infection or other complications related to wound healing.
  • Provide support for infant care when required, ensuring appropriate techniques are utilized for delicate cases.

  • Strong understanding of medical office protocols and long-term care practices.
  • Knowledgeable in pain management strategies tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Ability to ventilate patients effectively when necessary during procedures.
