About Job

The Addictions Counselor is instrumental in our patient’s treatment and recovery from various addictive behaviors. Substance Abuse/Addiction Counselors provide high quality, compassionate care through various mediums which include both individual and group counseling sessions. This counselor will plan, oversee, and facilitate group on a daily basis. and complete group notes in the EHR. There are two positions available, one requiring only group facilitation.

We have daily shifts that allow our employees to have stable schedules and enjoy quality time away from work. Group is conducted Monday- Friday from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM with occasional Saturdays, based on the population census.

Your Responsibilities as a Addictions Counselor:

  • Conduct group counseling sessions, under supervision (if required), as scheduled and documents as required;
  • Conduct individual, group and/or family sessions, as scheduled and documents as required;
  • May co-facilitate assigned group or family sessions;
  • Responsible for initial assessments, as well as follow up assessment, for patients;
  • Prepare an individual treatment plans for each assigned patient;
  • Ensure all documentation regarding patient care, treatment and incidents is completed timely and in a clear, concise manner;
  • May act as a liaison between referral sources and patients;
  • Provide crisis intervention to patients, as needed;
  • May plan for aftercare for assigned patients;
  • May act as a liaison with insurance carriers, as requested;
  • May provide case management duties for patients, insuring individualized quality care;
  • Evaluate patient’ needs and determines if referrals to other programs or facilities are needed; and,
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Your Skills and Qualifications as an Addictions Counselor:

  • Master's degree in social or health services field with 1+ years experience in counseling field; Bachelors degree degree with 2+ years experience; Associates degree with 3+ years experience, all must be from an accredited college or university OR as required for held Maryland certification/license.
  • Maryland Alcohol & Drug Trainees (ADT) are welcome with experience or can be trained if newly certified, with provided supervision.
  • Previous experience providing guidance and direction to others. Timely documentation and understanding of medical necessity and ASAM criteria.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • YOU MUST HAVE ONE OF THESE TO APPlY: ADT, CAC-AD, CSC-AD, or LCADC, LGPC, LCPC, LGSW, LCSW OR OTHER QUALIFIED PROFESSIONAL IN THE STATE OF MARYLAND.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36 per week
