Certified Substance Abuse Counselor

We are seeking a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team at Align Recovery Centers, located in the heart of Sonoma County. Align Recovery Centers is looking for enthusiastic, motivated, energetic individuals who can join our team.

Job Summary: The Certified Substance Abuse Counselor at Align Recovery Centers is responsible for providing comprehensive substance abuse counseling services to residents seeking recovery from addiction within a residential inpatient setting.

The Certified Counselor will assess, develop, and implement treatment plans, facilitate group and individual counseling sessions, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the well-being and successful recovery of residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of residents' substance abuse history, mental health, and treatment needs.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessments, using evidence-based practices.
  • Regularly evaluate residents' progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Facilitate group sessions to address various aspects of addiction, recovery, and relapse prevention.
  • Provide individual counseling sessions to residents, offering guidance and support.
  • Utilize a range of therapeutic techniques, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and motivational interviewing (MI).
  • Offer support and crisis intervention to residents during their stay.
  • Help residents develop coping skills and strategies for maintaining sobriety.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records, including progress notes and treatment plans.
  • Comply with all legal and ethical standards for documentation and reporting.

Collaboration and Teamwork:

  • Collaborate with other members of the treatment team, including physicians, nurses, therapists, and case managers, to ensure a holistic approach to treatment.
  • Participate in case conferences, weekly treatment planning meetings and trainings.

Education:

Certified Counselor must meet one (1) of the following requirements):

MUST have one (1) years of experience providing services as a certified AOD Counselor

  • Maintain certification and licensure as required by the state of California.
  • CPR/First Aid Certified
  • ASAM Certified

Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor (e.g., CCAAP, CADTP, CAADE) in accordance with state regulations.
  • State licensure as a counselor or therapist, if required.
  • 1-year minimum of previous experience working in a residential inpatient treatment facility is preferred.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based treatment modalities for substance use disorders.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent documentation and record-keeping skills.
  • Understanding of and commitment to ethical principles in counseling.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate individual and group sessions, utilizing Evidence Based Practices.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans, evaluate clients' goals, review clients progress and support the client with discharge planning for best treatment outcomes.
  • Complete and maintain accurate clinical documentation on each client.
  • Ability to carry a caseload up to 10 clients.
  • Attend weekly treatment team meets with multidisciplinary team.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $32.00 - $36.00 per hour
