Voices Together is a not-for-profit organization that provides Voices Music Therapy (VMT) to Neurodivergent clients and clients with mental health needs. Our proprietary model, VMT, empowers neurodivergent individuals to express themselves and engage with others.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Uses music to help patients/clients improve their emotional and mental well-being through while also assessing and documenting progress. Utilizes our specialized VMT model to increase communication, social/emotional learning, and self-advocacy for individuals wide a wide range of complex needs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, organize, direct, and assess clinical and evidence-based music therapy interventions to positive influence individuals’ physical, psychological, cognitive, and/or behavioral status
- Provide weekly specialized individual and group music therapy sessions
- Build and maintain strong therapeutic relationships with clients, families, and teachers
- Develop therapeutic goals through assessment and evaluation
- Maintain documentation that accurately reflects client outcomes through completed professional reports
- Submitting client documentation in a timely manner according to organizational policies
- Participate in team and staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and Voices Together events
- Attend regularly scheduled Music Therapy supervision with Regional Clinical Supervisor
- Performs other related duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy (required)
- Master’s degree or equivalent experience (preferred)
- Must be a Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC)
- Experience in basic counseling/verbal processing skills
- Valid Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and automobile insurance
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Three (3) or more years of experience working with in mental health settings
- Experience building strong therapeutic relationships with clients
- Knowledge of the assessment process and progress notes
- Demonstrated commitment to meeting high clinical standards in a professional setting, including: leading group sessions, self-accompaniment on piano/guitar, songwriting, developing curriculum, showing initiative/innovation, exhibiting leadership skills/problem solving skills
- Excellent written, oral, and organizational skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Suite
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds at times
