About Job
This counselor will work directly with students onsite at Passaic High School through the Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Initiative, a NJ Department of Children and Families grant-funded position. The ideal candidate will have good knowledge of reproductive health and feel comfortable dealing with students (female and male) around their relationship and sexual health. Clients self-refer, or are referred by teachers and administrators. Clients often have trauma and family problems while underperforming in school. This Counselor's mission is to help these students improve relationship and refusal skills, increase self esteem, learn coping skills and adopt proactive, positive behavior patterns so that they graduate high school and become productive members of society -- all while preventing unexpected or poorly planned pregnancy and parenting while in high school.
Applicants should have experience working with teenagers and have the ability to involve family as needed.
Master's Degree in social services is required.
Bilingual English/Spanish is required.
