About the Role
The Army Residence Community is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Medication Aide to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will support our licensed nurses by preparing, administering, and documenting prescribed medications to residents in accordance with all applicable state and federal regulations.
This is an excellent opportunity to serve a special community of retired military officers and their spouses in a respectful and professional environment.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare, administer, and record regularly prescribed oral, rectal, eye, and nasal medications.

Take and document vital signs before administering certain medications.

Observe and report medication reactions or side effects.

Maintain security of the medication room and follow all medication safety protocols.

Perform duties of a Certified Nursing Assistant as needed.

Administer PRN medications when authorized and document details accurately.

Use physician's desk reference or other approved medication resources.

Check physician's orders against medication forms and medication cards.

Ensure proper storage and cleanliness of all medications and work areas.

Understand and follow the facility's exposure control plan, MSDS protocols, and infection control procedures.
Qualifications
Education:
-
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Licenses / Certifications:
-
Valid Texas Medication Aide Certification

Must have completed a state-approved training program for medication administration
Experience:
-
Previous long-term care or assisted living experience preferred
-
Must be knowledgeable of Federal and State regulations for recertification
Other Requirements:

Must use good judgment in seeking guidance from licensed personnel

Must not administer initial doses, injectable medications, or take verbal/phone orders
-
Must understand proper body mechanics, safety protocols, and infection control procedures
Physical & Work Environment

Work performed in a clean, well-lit, and ventilated environment

Must be able to stand, sit, walk, lift up to 50 lbs., bend, kneel, push/pull, reach overhead and low

Must have corrected vision to 20/20 and normal hearing
