Indiana University Online is dedicated to maintaining the academic integrity of an Indiana University (IU) degree while expanding online education offerings to students locally, nationally, and internationally. As a university-wide office, IU Online provides strategic leadership in delivering online education, leveraging IU's scale, resources, and reputation. In alignment with the IU 2030 Strategic Plan, IU Online is committed to growing student enrollment to 25,000 in online programs by developing innovative programs and services in collaboration with IU's campuses.

IU Online, under the Office of the Vice President for Regional Campuses and Online Education (VPRCOE), partners with IU's academic units, as well as UITS' Learning Technologies (LT) for instructional design and learning technology and with University Communications and Marketing (UCM) for marketing, to develop, launch, and maintain online programs. As of Fall 2024, IU Online offers 200 academic programs 50 of which are collaborative academic programs across IU's 9 campuses with an enrollment of 9,362 students. The office manages admissions, recruitment, student services, administration, advising, reporting, program and assessment support, and compliance for online programs.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Reports to the Associate Director for Enrollment Management.
  • Responsible for admissions application reviews, systems data inputs and maintenance, and admissions recommendations and decisions for IU Online undergraduate prospective students.
  • Communicates with prospective students, applicants, and newly admitted students with exceptional customer service by fielding questions, providing information exchange, and troubleshooting via multi-modal communication.
  • Processes IU Online applications through IU's 7 campuses. Orders and processes transcript requests through the Transcript Request Service.
  • Interprets academic policies and assures completeness and accuracy of data. Maintains student records throughout multiple platforms while protecting and ensuring the confidentiality of all protected information.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable University and academic unit regulations and policies.
  • Develops and maintains operative knowledge of admissions and recruitment practices, processes, and systems for online programs. Provides information to students and refers them to appropriate academic units or other constituencies as needed. Creates, updates, and maintains internal admissions files.
  • Conducts daily reporting for various admissions initiatives. Generates admissions decisions. Pulls reports for targeted outreach efforts.
  • May collaborate with IU Online and UCM partners to identify effective marketing plans and strategies to address specific populations.
  • Develops, implements and administers plans, programs, and events for general and targeted student recruitment in support of IU Online goals.

General Responsibilities

  • Maintains, implements and oversees a holistic recruitment yield tactical plan for recruitment.
  • Develops, implements, and administers plans, programs, and events for general and targeted student recruitment in support of organizational goals.
  • Integrates a diverse and strategic communications strategy in collaboration with other departments, geared toward specific student declared academic major, career interests, and geographic factors.
  • Identifies and develops partnerships for outreach to prospective students and influencers.
  • Interprets academic policies and exercises authority and independent judgment.
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates programs and processes and determines the effectiveness of markets and strategies. Exercises independent judgment and uses census data and modeling tools to identify effective marketing plans and strategies to address specific populations.
  • Serves in a collaborative role with internal and external stakeholders to identify targets of opportunity to attract and enroll under-represented populations. Participates in the assessment and evaluation of various models.

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. This position requires the ability to attend in-person meetings and work events in south-central and central Indiana.

This position is eligible for remote work or to work a hybrid schedule (mix between remote and in-person work), subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.

$48,000.00 - $49,000.00 per year based on experience.
