This is a part-time, 20 hour per week, 10 month position. The Part-Time Counselor is responsible for providing diagnostic assessment, triage evaluations, short-term individual and group psychotherapy, crisis intervention, outreach, and consultation to the University community which includes faculty, staff, students and family members.
Responsibilities:
- Counsel students from the College of Undergraduate Studies, the College of Adult Professional Studies, and the College of Graduate Studies individually and in groups
- Provide consultative services to faculty, staff, students, and family members
- Advise the Director with matters/patterns that emerge regarding students' wellbeing
- Provide training for student leaders as needed/requested
- Create and provide psychoeducational presentations to university classes as needed/requested
- Assist with the assessment, planning, evaluation, and implementation of student-centered activities and programs
- Handle student emergencies with care and professionalism during working hours
- Work collaboratively with Health Services to produce a creative and informed monthly educational board
- Be proactive about maintaining a social media presence to help inform and engage students on emotional wellness topics, programming, and services
- Maintain a high standard of professionalism (including confidentiality) in the Student Wellness Center
- Ensure timely, accurate documentation of client contacts and maintain an orderly filing system
- Maintain a working knowledge of best practices in the field of counseling and counseling for college students and adult learners through professional development
- Attend all departmental staff and related meetings
- Support the student recruitment and retention efforts of the University
- Maintain awareness of the University resources for helping students with academic, career, and personal concerns, and make referrals when appropriate
- Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:
Minimum Requirements:
- Master's degree from a social work, clinical or counseling psychology program.
- Individuals currently working towards a state license can obtain supervision on site.
- Individuals should possess excellent oral and written communication skills,
- Ability to work with time sensitive projects, be a self-starter, work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task.
- The ability to perform effective and efficient administrative responsibilities is necessary.
Preferred Requirements:
- College counseling experience and a current PA license is preferred, but not required.
