About Job

Cape Fox Concentric Methods LLC is accepting resumes for a Psychiatric Technician to support the Navy Facility at Camp Pendleton CA. They will provide inpatient and outpatient Care at the Acute Psychiatric and Intermediate Units.

Required:

  • Graduation from an accredited Psychiatric Technician Program; or completion of an equivalent education and experience that meets the requirement of the American Association of Psychiatric Technicians (AAPT) or completion of education and experience as a behavioral science specialist/technician in the United States military and proof of having completed an Armed Forces course involving psychiatric technician training or civilian course from an accredited school in the care of behavioral health patients.
  • 1 year of experience after graduation.
  • AAPT level one national Psychiatric Technician certification.

The total hourly pay for this non-exempt position is $34.00 per hour for up to 40 hours per week. This is comprised of a base hourly rate of $29.07 plus $4.93 per hour Health & Welfare (H&W) for up to 40 hours per week as required by the Service Contract Labor Standards (SCLS) regulations. The above rate represents the company’s good faith and reasonable estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting. Responsibilities:

  • Assist in initial intake assessments and triage interviews.
  • Schedule patient appointments through the CHCS computer system. Coordinate and assist the Primary Care Provider in contacting patients who miss appointments.
  • Assist in counseling and orient patients to the unit procedures and policies.
  • Perform ward searches, monitor use of dangerous items. Answer telephone calls and relay pertinent information to providers if required.
  • Assist in a variety of treatment modalities including but not limited to biofeedback, stress management, and group therapy.
  • Coordinate and perform routine training in prevention and management of assaultive behavior.
  • Assist with patient education.
  • Perform routine ward procedures for admission, discharges, and patient transfers.
  • Monitor patient safety; be able to do physical restraint procedures such as applying manual and mechanical restraints.
  • Manage agitated patients; identify and report symptoms of homicidal or suicidal patient; perform line of sight one-on-one observations.
  • Understand the rules of confidentiality as applies to patient and health care provider during all aspects of care; instruct personnel in psychiatric patient rights.
  • Perform ongoing risk assessment; assist in maintaining therapeutic milieu.
  • Transcribe physician’s orders.
  • Develop a therapeutic relationship with psychiatric patients; observe patient progress during treatment.
  • Organize and facilitate patient groups and activities.
  • Escort patients safely on and off the unit, know the patient management for elopement risks; take patients out on field trips.
  • Monitor patient safety; be able to do physical restraint procedures such as applying manual and mechanical restraints.
  • Manage agitated patients; identify and report symptoms of homicidal or suicidal patient; perform line of sight one-on-one observations.
  • Maintain all records required on patients to include data entry and retrieval on CHCS and CIS computer systems.
  • Perform a range of diagnostic support duties which include but is not limited to drawing blood for lab studies; collect and label specimens; take vital signs; and assist the doctor in a variety of diagnostic examinations.
  • Operate the outpatient front desk areas; assist patients with questions and information; offer courteous and attentive assistance.
  • Ensure that all records are properly maintained, constructed, and secured in a controlled access area.
  • Perform psychiatric testing/screening evaluations if certified and as directed.

Experience/Education:

  • Graduation from an accredited Psychiatric Technician Program; or completion of an equivalent education and experience that meets the requirement of the American Association of Psychiatric Technicians or completion of education and experience as a behavioral science specialist/technician in the United States military and proof of having completed an Armed Forces course involving psychiatric technician training or civilian course from an accredited school in the care of behavioral health patients.
  • Possess at AAPT level one national Psychiatric Technician certification.
  • One (1) year of experience after graduation.
  • Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
