Position Summary
The School Psychologist will provide psychoeducational evaluations (initial and triennial re?evaluations), consultation, and mental health support within the K8 student population. You will participate in MET and IEP meetings, collaborate with teachers and families, and support the schools mission of fostering academic achievement and social-emotional growth for all students.
Key Responsibilities
Assessment & Evaluation
Conduct initial evaluations and reevaluations (three?year updates) to determine eligibility for special education services under Michigan regulations and MARSE guidelines.
Administer and interpret cognitive, academic, behavioral, and social?emotional assessment tools (e.g., WISC?V, BASC?3, KTEA?3, Vineland).
Complete professional, comprehensible psychological reports that summarize findings and guide intervention planning.
IEP & MET Participation
Actively participate in Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) and IEP meetings, offering expert insight into eligibility, goals, and service planning.
Collaborate with special education team members to develop appropriate, data-driven IEPs and monitor student progress.
Consultation & Intervention Support
Consult regularly with classroom teachers, special educators, and support staff to design and implement interventions, classroom modifications, and strategies for at-risk learners.
Help support systems such as behavior intervention plans (BIPS), MTSS teams, and social-emotional learning initiatives.
Counseling & Mental Wellness Services
Provide short-term individual or group counseling focused on anxiety, self-regulation, peer relationships, and other SEL areas.
Conduct risk and crisis assessments; support student reentry planning following behavioral or emotional crises, as needed.
Family & Community Collaboration
Communicate and collaborate with families, sharing assessment results and making referrals to community mental health resources as appropriate.
Offer parent workshops or resource information on topics such as remote learning supports, behavior management, and mental wellness.
Caseload & Schedule Details
Exact caseload (number of evaluations, case plans, etc.) will be finalized on August 8, 2025, following school planning and enrollment.
Anticipated workload: part?time, with hours aligned to student needs and assessment load.
Services delivered on-site only; no remote service delivery.
Qualifications
Masters, Education Specialist (Ed.S.), or doctoral degree (Ph.D./Psy.D.) in School Psychology from an accredited program.
Valid Michigan School Psychologist certification (or eligible for provisional licensure).
Experience conducting assessments and participating in IEP/MET meetings in K8 settings preferred
Strong writing, interpersonal, and collaborative skills; ability to work effectively with students, families, and educators from diverse backgrounds.
Skilled in culturally responsive assessment and intervention practices.
