About Job

Objective:

To provide necessary mental health and social supports through person-centered counseling and life skills training on topics such as health, safety, and behavior management for children and adolescents. Pay rate is dependent upon experience and caseload willingness.

Candidates must possess the following:

Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field* from an accredited institution with at least one year of clinical experience.**
Must be able to clear criminal background and CPS registry checks.
Must meet the criteria to be a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) and register with the Virginia Board of Counseling.
Valid driver’s license.
Valid automobile insurance.

Responsibilities:
Provide and teach coping skills for children diagnosed with a mental disorder such as ADHD, ODD or anxiety in all settings
Facilitate group sessions to develop positive coping and social skills for at risk children and adolescents
Maintain weekly (at minimum) contact with each client's parent/guardian
Develop, implement, and monitor an individualized service plan for each client
Assess treatment need on a continuous basis
Foster development of healthier coping, problem solving, and communication skills
Collaborate with other service providers to ensure that the best level of care is provided to clients
Educate necessary parties regarding available community resources
Maintain confidentiality in compliance with the Commonwealth of Virginia Human Rights Code 2007 and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act
Participate in weekly supervision with clinical/program director and other training provided by the agency

** Clinical experience means having provided direct behavioral services to individuals with mental illness, intellectual disability, or who is receiving gerontology or special education service. Must have documented experience of work and experience with implementing individualized service plans
