Job Title: Bilingual Staff Psychologist-Part Time

Job Description

Primary responsibilities will be to assist Center administration in the coordination and oversight of bilingual (Spanish) service provision at the Center for Psychological Services. The Center for Psychological Services is the primary training site for the doctoral programs in clinical and school psychology at St. John’s University. The Center’s mission is to serve the local community by providing mental health services. This position will involve the provision, and oversight, of bilingual clinical services provided at the Center as well as provision of back-up emergency coverage (as needed/indicated). This position is a part-time (i.e., up to 20 hrs/week), grant funded, 12-month position (with possibility of renewal). Specific duties will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Provide mental health services in Spanish
  • Provide supervision of graduate students and doctoral fellows providing mental health services to clients in Spanish
  • Provide back-up consultation on clinical issues if assigned supervisors are unavailable (or if supervisors need to consult with someone)
  • Provide (and attend) Center related trainings in cultural competency and engagement, as needed
  • Expand Center’s current outreach program to connect with Queens-based agencies and organizations to increase awareness of the Center’s multilingual mental health services
  • Assist Center administration to collect and evaluate data to measure the impact of bilingual services at the Center for Psychological Services
  • Adherence to the ethical and legal standards of the field

Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Clinical or School Psychology
  • Licensure as Psychologist in New York State
  • Fluency in Spanish and English
  • Experience in the delivery of psychological services
  • Minimum one year experience in providing supervision of psychological services
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with professional staff, faculty, and students and fellow administrators
  • Dedication to the Vincentian and global missions of the University

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual salary for this position is $58,000. St. John’s University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

This position may be relocated to any of St. John’s University’s physical locations at any time.
